Measuring Surface Deformation of Asphalt Pavement via Airborne LiDAR: A Pilot Study

Measuring the surface deformation of asphalt pavement and acquiring rutting condition is great importance to transportation agencies. This paper proposes a measuring method based on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mounted with Light Detection Ranging (LiDAR). Firstly, airborne LiDAR system assembled data acquisition presented. Then, for point cloud processing rut depth computation presented results field testing are discussed. Thirdly, investigate error factors, laser footprint positioning model established sensitivity analysis conducted.
